3 1/2 - 4 stars....One more entry in my ‘guilty pleasure’ category. I just can’t walk away from these sweet little romances.
Ben has been breaking my heart since the beginning of this series. The tragic loss of his wife and the way he handled it had every member of his family worrying about him. When he started ‘seeing’ Penny that worry became even stronger. Once everyone discovered that Penny really was still alive, the real mystery began.
Although I really looked forward to Ben getting his HEA, I have to admit, Long Gone Lonesome Blues wasn’t my favorite in the Texas Brands series. I still liked it and the mystery was really good… I can’t really put my finger on it…
One thing I do know is that by now these brothers should learn a little bit from one another’s past mistakes. I don’t think I’ve seen a family full of men need women to keep them straight more than the Brand brothers. That’s part of the fun though, so I can’t complain too much.
Looks like the next book in the series steers away from the immediate family and pulls in some long lost cousins. Another mystery is on the horizon and I’ve already got The Lone Cowboy ready and waiting for the next time I have time to indulge in my guilty pleasure.

This is such a great series. It sure keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat with all the twists and turns. The story line has a little bit for everyone. There's romance, thriller type scenes, mystery, and nail biting suspense. But she always ends her stories with a HEA.
I would highly recommend this series.
I often brag on Maggie Shayne and The Littlest Cowboy just gives me more to talk about. Shayne flawlessly combines all of my favorite attributes in a book. She gives us a lot of amazing characters with great personalities and physical descriptions. Then there is the deep suspense, a ton of action, and a great romance. When Shayne tells you a story, you’re there. You can feel the tension and smell the gunpowder.
The book and the entire series are “romantic suspense” so my warnings for them seem obvious. There is graphic violence, a lot, in many forms. Also, it contains graphic language and some sex. The sex isn't extremely graphic, nor is there a lot of it but it is there. Last, this is not a light fun happy read. It's tense and emotion packed. I know I had a tear or two come to eye.
The Littlest Cowboy is the first novel in The Texas Brands Series. The Series revolves around the Brand family, brothers Garrett, Wes, Elliot, Adam, and Ben and their sister Jessi and a bunch of cousins. I really loved this book, and want to get the rest of the series! Oh, and this was a FREE download for on .
**UPDATE 3/17/15** I have now read this ENTIRE series and I love all of the book as much as I did the first one. Each book brings you a new story with new love, tension, and suspense but still involves the other characters as well. Each book can be read stand alone, but you will want to read them all!

I enjoyed the entire Series of the Texas Brands. Maggie Shane has been a favorite Author of mine for a long time and I love her Series Books and recommend them to anyone who loves to read.
Love the action packed romance story line of The Texas Brand series Ms Shayne has written. Cant wait to continue with Adams story.
Good characters, strong story. Amnesia, faked death, heartbreak and betrayal, intrigue and kidnapping. It kept me interested although it was a bit predictable at times. Think this will be the last of the series that I'm going to read though, it's the problem I find with series the first one or two are pretty original but then the sensual scenes and declarations of love and fights all tend to be recycled, and that has begun happening. Nothing against the author as I've enjoyed the series to this point, I just don't think I'll go any farther.
Overall a good read and a good addition to the series.
Gotta say never saw Ben Brand's story coming. Dead wife come back to life after two years with no real memory of who she is??? and the reason for this memory loss is wow.. Don't want to give anything away but loved every surprising, exciting, pulse pounding and heart warming moment from start to finish (finished in one sitting could not put it down) This series just keeps getting better with each book.
